WHY DO YOUNG PEOPLE STRUGGLE WITH CONIFIDENCE?
Nowadays young people facing pressure from social media. Platforms like. Instagram, tik Tok create impractical comparison. They tend to see their peers thriving, having careers, cars and living life. This can make young people feel like they are not enough or doing enough, and constant comparison can lessen self-esteem.
With the high employment rate, in South Africa for example, countless young people are unemployed including graduates. Staying at home while qualified can be exhausting and demotivating, they can only have the confidence in themselves when they see chances or at least something to ensure the future is safe. Support and encouragement from a mentor can really boost a young person.
confidence, often helping them believe in themselves. Without a helpful person like a teacher, older sibling, or community leader, it is tougher for young people to believe in their own abilities. Role models who have similar backgrounds, languages, or
origins are important because they help young people see their experiences as strengths instead of weaknesses. Without examples they can connect with, young people might feel ignored, which can make them feel insecure. As we all know confidence does not come easy to everyone, it starts small with insignificant things like standing up for yourself, trying new things, and even doing the things you are told you cannot do. Start surrounding yourself with people who will not pull you down, instead will uplift and encourage you.
Overall, no one is perfect. Everyone has their flaws but that does not mean you should not feel comfortable in your own skin. Confidence is something that can developed as time goes by, and building confidence starts with you telling yourself you are enough. Do not compare yourself and your life to others because you are not on the same path.
